The 501st at THE CLONE WARS Special Premiere Screening

On 12 August the 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST joined by our friends from the 501st SINGAPORE GARRISON will be celebrating the Special Premiere screening of THE CLONE WARS movie in true intergalactic style at GSC, MidValley Megamall. We will bring forth an awesome range of STAR WARS characters from the Original Trilogy - Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Snowtrooper Commander “Salji”, Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot, Imperial Navy Officer and AT-ST Driver, from the Prequels - Emperor’s Royal Guard and from the Expanded Universe - Royal Guardsman “Kir Kanos”.

This trooping mission marks the beginning of the 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST‘s series of planned troopings in conjunction with the release of THE CLONE WARS movie in Peninsular Malaysia and Brunei.

The 501st celebrates THE CLONE WARS Movie in MALAYSIA and BRUNEI

The 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST will be answering our call of trooping duty as Lucasfilm’s PREFERRED Imperial Costuming Group at THE CLONE WARS movie premieres in Peninsular Malaysia and Brunei. We are excited about it as this is the FIRST TIME our 501st Outpost is part of an Official STAR WARS Movie Premiere. (The 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST wasn’t formed yet when REVENGE OF THE SITH premiered back in May 2005).

Our trooping missions are part of a larger worldwide celebration throughout the month of August 2008 with our 501st LEGION brothers and sisters from the US, South and Central Americas, UK, Europe, Asia and Oceania. Our detailed costumes and props help our character appearances to bring the magic of STAR WARS alive to the multitudes of local movie going fans, young and old alike.

501stLegion-DROID HUNT at a Glance

On 31 May and 1 June, the 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST successfully executed our very first DROID HUNT Game during Movie Carnival 2008, held in One Utama Shopping Centre, Peninsular Malaysia. This event brought our Malaysian and Brunei members together to troop side by side for the first time since the activation of this Outpost on 23 January 2006. The combined strength of 10 troopers on each day realistically created the excitement of the Galactic Empire hunting down “Rebel sympathisers” in the crowd who possessed “DROIDS” that might harbor valuable data to the Rebel Alliance.

The 501st MALAYSIA-BRUNEI OUTPOST‘s on-ground actions during our first DROID HUNT are documented in 12 YouTube video clips with 5 clips covering 31 May and another 7 clips covering 1 June 2008. Over 170 pictures taken during this 2 day event can be viewed in our 501st-DROID HUNT, Movie Carnival 2008 Photo Album.
